G's Country Kitchen

I absolutely love this place. G's is a great little hidden gem here in Huntsville. I can remember coming here well before I enlisted years ago. I'm so glad the kitchen is still open after all this time. The service here has always been great. The food is comforting, and the price is affordable. This has been my go-to spot for good home cooking for years. I highly recommend the collards and the porkchop.

Stopped here for lunch today after hearing lots of good things about the restaurant. It was very crowded (which is typically a good sign). We actually had to wait for a table, but not too long. It took about 10 minutes for our server to bring a menu because they were so busy. She was friendly and answered questions about the menu. I ordered a fried chicken plate with fried green tomatoes and mashed potatoes with gravy. It also came with hushpuppies. My hubby tried the meatloaf with cornbread, fries and mac and cheese. Our food took approximately 30 minutes due to the crowd. It arrived hot and fresh. The chicken was cooked well...crispy and hot, but very salty. The hushpuppies were amazing and the fried green tomatoes were my favorite thing on the plate. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant, so I didn't eat them. My hubby liked the meatloaf, but he said the mac and cheese was his favorite part of the meal. Because of the crowd, the server never checked back on us, so we never received drink refills, etc. We had to go up to the counter to ask for a to-go box. Also, due to the crowd, the noise level was very loud....actually hard to hear each other talking. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but we will probably not go back at lunch due to the crowd situation.

This place exudes "Southern Hospitality!" The service is great! They make sure you are taken care of, and will offer recommendations. It takes some time for the food to come out, but they let you know that with the "This is not a fast food joint" sign on the front. But it is worth the wait! The food is absolutely delicious! They put soul in their food! And it's very reasonably priced!

We waited a long time for the food. It was good, but wife's chicken legs were both a lot smaller than the ones I got. Would try this place again.

You want some delicious southern cooking??? This place is incredible!!! I got the fried chicken with slaw, and tater salad and hush puppies... This is the best fried chicken I've had in quite a while and I love ordering fried chicken!!! Hubby got the meatloaf, yams, and green beans and I got to taste his too... We are talking some delicious food and the staff here are some of the most polite and and attentive folks around! We will be back and I will definitely be recommending them in the future!

This place is AMAZING! They greet you with genuine positivity the moment you walk in the door. Mo did an exceptional job making sure that I had a great experience. I told him that this was my first time visiting. I had the lunch special - Chicken - two legs and a thigh with rice and gravy and cabbage. I had the “OBAMA” drink special. And to top it off, banana pudding. This is true southern food that warmed my soul. I will definitely be back.

The food is consistently fantastic, classic country comfort dishes done right, and at prices that won’t break the bank. The yams are especially amazing, definitely a must-try. The atmosphere is cozy and laid-back, and the staff are always warm and welcoming. It’s not the fanciest place to look at, but who cares when the food hits? Highly recommend if you're craving real Southern-style cooking.

Googled fried chicken and decided to order from here today! There will be a wait in the food but it’s well worth it! I think they need more help staffing but they are managing to the best of their ability. Don’t let this take away from the quality and love given to preparing & cooking the food! I ordered dinners : catfish & fried chicken .., pound cake & extra sides.. fried okra, Mac & cheese, yams, black eyed peas… cornbread .. tomato /onion.. the fried catfish was yummy, fried okra superb, Mac ok, black eyed peas good! I was only able to eat 1 piece of fish and sample the sides.. my son said the chicken was ok. The pound cake is definitely worth ordering as well! Support them & if u have it tip the staff!!!
